I just got a note from someone pointing out that the 2008 and 2009 columns were transposed. I've corrected them but I wanted anyone who may have looked at them earlier to be aware.

(Thanks, Julie!)

I couldn't agree with you more, Kenneth!

Sometimes what seems like a small detail blows up and can have a dramatic affect on your relationship with your client. Remember, they hold YOU accountable for any referral or introduction you make to them.

I have learned to take all referrals seriously and have discussions with any referee BEFORE I ever give out their name now. This is ESPECIALLY critical for core real estate services such as title, escrow, and inspectors. "Very good" is not good enough. EXCEPTIONAL is the only acceptable rating!

Great post! Title companies can sometimes determine the fate of repeat buyers. If you close with an incompetent title company they can sometimes cause you to lost future business. Sometimes even a few days can make the difference between short and long term consequences.

Title and escrow are one of those things where consumers (and some professionals) have no idea how important they are until something goes wrong.

We forget how important title and escrow are to getting a transaction closed and recorded. On my OWN house the title company had errors on the legal description when it closed so when I went to refinance two years later the title report showed that I didn't own it. ugh... took over a month to fix...
So read those reports...

I was at BlogWorld in Vegas last week and listened to Technorati's State of the Blogosphere 2009--it's really interesting. Blogging and social media is nowhere near being "dead" or a phase. Companies are "getting it" (or at least most are)... and another message that struck me is that blogging/social media a few years ago was more "innocent"...now it's becoming all business.

Thanks, Debra. It seems like those who are already well-connected are the ones who show up the most. Maybe if managing brokers and brokerage owners were to get more involved they would promote it more.

It just seems like the people in top management at most real estate companies are the least aware of these opportunities. I agree it's a shame.

Hi Jim,

I agree with you completely! I've been saying for several years that I am learning more from online resources, Inman News Conferences, and RE Bar Camps than from the traditional real estate courses. I've been to all three of the Seattle area bar camps and each time I came away with useful information.

People like you, Rhonda Porter and Ardell are great to take the time to share. Oh, also Drew Meyers and David Gibbons have done a lot for local bar camps.

It's unfortunate more agents are not aware of these opportunities.

Thanks

Thanks!

As many know by now, this project was mothballed a while back. I just saw an article in the Seattle Times saying the hole that had been dug for the basement and parking was going to be filled in and it turned back into a parking lot for now.
