New Water Feature at Mosler Lofts?

February 26th, 2008

waterfallI was showing property on two separate occasions over the last two weeks at Mosler Lofts in Belltown. On the first occasion, we concluded our showing by walking in on a conversation between a tenant and the concierge about how his unit was leaking water everywhere from the ceiling.

This last Saturday, upon walking in to the building, we were relegated to the lobby while the concierge dealt with what she termed an “emergency”. To say the least. Unbeknownst to even her, there was a cascade of water coming from one of the vents above the owner’s library, falling all over the bookshelves and brand new books. After notifying her of this, she was eventually able to give us keys to the units but we were asked to stay completely off of the second floor.

Just a head ups to potential buyers! Scary stuff!

Sometimes you can run into some nasty issues post-completion of new condo projects. Just listen to this KUOW radio news report “Condo Problems”

[…] The Seattle Specialist had a few interesting post. One wonders about water problems at newly constructed Mosler Lofts. Another talks about a broker only event at SLU. Apparently they have a brokers only website. Hmmmm. […]

I live at Mosler. This problem was caused by a tennat leaving water on in a plugged sink and leaving the building for a long time. They did not leave a key with the front desk, so there was considerable water flowing down from the 4th floor before it was stopped. This was not a quality or construction issue. According to a Condo Insurance guy I talked with, this is the biggest cause of damage in downtown condos. You could/should shut off your water when gone for an extended time.

I also live at Mosler, and was directly effected by the water problem. This was not a construction issue, but rather someone on the fourth floor who plugged their sink drain, turned on the water, and left for the day???
